HANMI Semiconductor sponsors Korean War veterans recording projects

HANMI Semiconductor has sponsored KRW 100 million to the writer Rami Hyun (Korean name Hyo-je Hyun) of Project Soldier, a corporation that extends gratitude to Korean War veterans and records their pride in pictures and videos.


“I had the opportunity to visit Washington, D.C., when I participated in the president’s U.S. tour in 2017.” said Kwak Dong Shin, CEO and vice chairman of HANMI Semiconductor. “I had respect and appreciation for the U.N. veterans who sacrificed for freedom and peace in the Republic of Korea after reading the phrase ‘Freedom is not free’ inscribed in the Korean War Veterans Memorial.”


“I recently got to know Rami Hyun writer in Project Soldier, who records their pride in photos and videos and conveys their values and dedication to the next generation,” he said, adding, “I decided to sponsor them to help.”


Since 2013, Project Soldier has visited Korean War combatant nations, including U.S., United Kingdom, etc., as well as Korea, to capture pictures and videos of veterans, record their beliefs, service and value of sacrifice, and convey them to the next generation.


Founded in 1980, HANMI Semiconductor has an average export ratio of more than 77 percent to sales over the past 10 years and has about 320 customers worldwide, based on 43 years of experience and know-how in the global semiconductor equipment market. Since the Intellectual Property Department establishment in 2002, it has applied for 120 patents regarding to High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) equipment for artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor equipment, including 111 patents, through a dedicated department composed of about 10 experts.
